New Interactive Wine Comedy

At a sommelier academy in a chateau far-far away, forces loyal to Hugh Johnson are gathering to combat the tyranny imposed by the dark lord Ramsay and his evil band of celebrity chefs: Darth Rhodes,
Grand Moff Harriott and Jabba the Worral Thomson.
A generation of sommelier has fallen under their grip in restaurants countrywide. Deprived of the status and honour of their forbears,
they have been transformed into bottle opening clones.
It is now time for the Return of the Sommelier.

This frenetic and fast-paced interactive comedy takes audiences into the fascinating world of the professional sommelier with a range of fun participative sketches and challenges.
Francis Gimblett, Peter Gentilli and Richard Oatley impart the secrets of the sommelier and transform the audience into recruits in a bid to bring entertainment back into the world’s restaurants. Along the way guests: unlock the secrets of their palate, develop the skills of blind tasting, gain an insight into what the arrogant sommelier is really thinking (as you quiver under his aloof gaze in a restaurant), as well as learning the new dark arts of The Extreme Sommelier: Instant Winemaking and Speed Decanting!
Stage 1 – ‘Entering the Olfactory Passage’
Firstly we must learn the ways of the Sommelier.
Although dusty and under-travelled, once entered, the olfactory passage leads to a host of new skills for the budding taster. The audience learns how to detect grapes, quality and age in wine blind. A fun tasting challenge follows.
Stage 2 – ‘A Sommelier falls to the dark side’
Once the core skills have been imparted, the dangers of the dark side are highlighted. In a revealing sketch, the audience learns what a pompous sommelier who has fallen to arrogance is really thinking when you order your wine. A set of aroma vials on each table lends the sketch ‘smellyvision’ and forms part of a fun challenge for the tables.
Stage 3 – ‘The Extreme Sommelier’
Now that the ways and mindset of the sommelier have been learned, the progression to ‘Extreme Sommelier’ can begin. This highly visual element has audience members on stage helping to create a new wine in seconds, before members of each group compete in a ‘Speed Decanting’ challenge, whilst the rest of the teams place bets on the outcome!
